Description Get to know Thompson! Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida Tennessee and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. What will you do as a Youth Care Specialist?- As a Youth Care Specialist in the Thompson Youth Stabilization department, you will provide crisis invention, de-escalation, and behavior modification techniques to youth who have night-to-night placement in DSS offices and/or have limited stability in their home.
- A typical day as a Youth Care Specialist will include responding to requests made for client intervention, coordinating sessions, de-escalating youth, and completing documentation. As a Youth Care Specialist, an on-call schedule for weekends and flexibility are required

Requirements Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: - High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 2 years of relevant experience–preferably working with youth within a secure residential facility and/or a behavioral health setting
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
- All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, and an extensive background check is required.
