Scientist - Oncology Research Bayer is a biopharmaceutical company committed to applying our scientific leadership in Oncology to transform the lives of patients with cancer. We are growing rapidly with an active research and discovery pipeline. This role will participate in research and drug discovery programs in the oncology pipeline. We are seeking an innovative and agile individual who brings excitement for drug discovery in cancer biology as well as a passion for professional development and peer coaching.
Your Tasks And Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of this role, Scientist, are to:
- Responsible for independently planning and performing experiments, generating and analyzing data and presenting results and next steps to support the development of drug discovery programs in the Oncology pipeline;
- Responsible for troubleshooting experiments, assays, or procedures: overcome obstacles and develop alternative experimental approaches;
- Recommend new and innovative solutions to problems utilizing knowledge of unit operations, scientific creativity, independent thought, and proficiency;
- Collaborates with other scientists in RED ONC and R&D functions and supports cross team and cross site activities to progress drug development programs in Oncology activities, interpret and effectively communicate scientific findings in one-on-one discussions and/or departmental meetings;
- Take initiative in keeping current with field of specialty and contribute to scientific literature;
- Ensure that laboratory notebooks are consistently updated, audited, and well maintained.
Who You Are Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Sciences;
- Demonstrated ability to design and perform experiments, assays, methods development, validation, scale up or operations;
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot problems requiring original thought;
- Demonstrated knowledge in field of expertise (i.e. unit operation, of literature, new developments, technologies, and regulations);
- Ability to apply scientific principles to the design and interpretation of scientific experiments;
- Ability to exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results;
- Ability to solve routine to complex operation and scientific problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning;
- Ability to prepare reports and interpret the results of complex experiments and present own work;
- Previous experience participating in a project team;
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite of Software (Word, Excel);
- Ability to learn and apply business tools and systems such as SAP;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present own work to a group.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors/Master of Sciences with at least 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $92,792.00 - $139,188.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.
This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, skills, prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
