Job Title: VA Underwriter

Location: Remote (Must reside in a state located within the Eastern Standard Time Zone

Schedule: Full-Time

Overview:

We’re working with a reputable lender seeking an experienced VA Underwriter to join their team. This position is fully remote, but candidates must be available to work standard Eastern Time hours.
Unfortunately, this lender is not registered to have employees in the state of California.

Key Requirements (Must-Have):

• Must have actively underwritten and signed off on loans using VA LAPP/SAR designations and issued an NOV within the past 6 months

• Active VA LAPP/SAR credentials

• Must have most recently worked for a Mortgage company.

• Must be able to work a full-time Eastern Standard Time (EST) schedule

Preferred Experience:

• FHA designation and Non-QM underwriting experience is highly preferred

Responsibilities:

• Underwrite VA loans in accordance with agency, investor, and company guidelines

• Review and clear conditions; issue final loan approvals using VA credentials

• Analyze credit, income, asset, and collateral documentation to determine risk and loan eligibility

• Ensure underwriting decisions meet compliance, quality, and timeline standards

• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve loan issues and support successful closings

• Stay up to date on all regulatory changes, agency updates, and internal policy shifts
