Job Description

New York City Children’s Center (NYCCC) an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse 1 Psychiatric (50%) for their Community Residence program located in Brooklyn. The Community Residence program provides a short-term, trauma-sensitive, safe, and therapeutic living environment for youth ages 10-17.

The tentative shift is 10:00 am to 6:30 pm and the schedule is Tuesday and Thursday with an additional shift every other Saturday.

NYCCC is a multi-faceted community-based psychiatric center providing behavioral health services to children and adolescents in the greater New York City area. With campuses in Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx; NYCCC provides a variety of inpatient and community services including Day Treatment Programs, Behavioral Health Clinics, Mobile Integration Team (MIT), Community Residences, and Peer Advocacy Services. All programs are fully integrated which allows NYCCC to provide a full continuum of care to the children and adolescents they serve.

RNs working in NYCCC’s Community Residence are part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on providing compassionate care to children and adolescents and provide support to their family. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and overseeing all health care services and health education
  • Monitoring medication management
  • Participating in development of service plans and changes involving medications or medical conditions requiring nursing interventions
  • Communicating with family/guardian about all medical conditions, appointments and/ or support services
  • Overseeing the general health care of the residents including clinical evaluations, basic first aid, arranging for medical or dental visits, and providing follow-up care
  • Assessing any injuries for first-aid or medical follow up and document incidents
  • Completing health screening, pain assessment, and other nursing admission documents

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse 1 Psychiatric: NYS License and current registration to practice as a professional nurse.
