Job Description

Job Title: Senior Network Security Engineer

Duration: 6-Month Contract to Hire

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Pay: 100/hr C2C or 85 w2

We are seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to design, implement, secure, and maintain complex network infrastructures. This role requires deep technical expertise in network engineering, a strong background in security tools and protocols, and the ability to lead and mentor other engineers. The ideal candidate will excel at analyzing network traffic, identifying and mitigating potential threats, and ensuring the highest levels of network performance, integrity, and confidentiality.

Role Description:

  • Design, configure, and maintain secure network architectures, protocols, and systems.
  • Implement and manage network security measures to protect data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Monitor and analyze network traffic to detect potential threats and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Administer Microsoft security tools (e.g., Sentinel) in Azure and non-Azure environments.
  • Manage and optimize Cisco Secure Web Appliance (WSA) deployments.
  • Lead, mentor, and train junior network engineers on technical best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure and efficient network operations.
  • Stay current on emerging threats, technologies, and best practices in network engineering and cybersecurity.

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or Information Technology from a U.S.-accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on security.
  • CCNP, CISSP, CEH, Security+, Network+, or equivalent certifications.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft security tools (e.g., Sentinel), within or outside Azure environments.
  • Experience with Cisco Secure Web Appliance (Cisco WSA).
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining network security protocols and systems.
  • Experience providing technical leadership and guidance to SOC teams on network-related issues.
  • Strong background in network traffic analysis, threat identification, and mitigation strategy implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and training junior engineers.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and teamwork skills.
  • Preferred experience with tools such as Qualys, CrowdStrike, Cloudflare, CyberArk, and SolarWinds.

Clearance & Location Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Hybrid role requiring onsite presence 3 days per week in Washington, DC.
