Compensation : $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

About the Role
We are hiring on behalf of a leading manufacturer in the powersports industry, known for its innovation across off-road vehicles, marine products, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and defense platforms. This opportunity is based at their state-of-the-art Product Development Center in Wyoming, MN, within the Materials Engineering and Testing department.
This hands-on role is ideal for someone passionate about materials science and eager to contribute to the testing, validation, and analysis of a wide range of materials. You’ll work in a dynamic lab environment supporting product development across multiple platforms.
Job Description
As a Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing samples, conducting laboratory tests, analyzing results, and maintaining testing equipment. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure materials meet performance and durability standards. The role requires strong organizational skills, critical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple testing workflows efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform metallurgical sample preparation and evaluation
  • Conduct failure analysis and fractography
  • Operate optical microscopy and digital imaging tools
  • Execute accelerated environmental and chemical testing
  • Validate coating performance and mechanical properties
  • Write clear, data-driven technical reports
  • Manage lab schedules and communicate progress to project leads
  • Apply lean practices to improve lab efficiency
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab environment
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering
  • Hands-on experience in a materials lab setting
  • Proficiency in metallurgical sample prep, microscopy, and hardness testing
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with chemical handling and safety protocols
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with failure analysis of metals and plastics
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, and welding
  • Background in coating validation and environmental testing
  • Prior experience in a product development or testing lab environment
