Since it was founded, VBG has guided more than 35,000 Veterans through the complicated Veteran Affairs (VA) disability claims process. Who We’re Looking For

The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing innovative, effective, and scalable learning solutions that enhance employee performance and support organizational objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong design expertise, technical proficiency, and the ability to collaborate across departments to deliver engaging and impactful learning experiences.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders to conduct needs assessments and identify learning requirements.
  • Design and develop curriculum, e-Learning modules, microlearning, scenario-based learning, facilitator guides, and performance support tools that align with business goals.
  • Apply adult learning principles, instructional design models, modern learning technologies, and feedback to create engaging, interactive, and accessible programs.
  • Leverage e-Learning authoring tools and multimedia applications to produce high-quality digital content.
  • Manage and maintain course content within the organization’s Learning Management System (LMS) or Learning Experience Platform (LXP).
  • Implement measurement and evaluation strategies to assess training effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with learning trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to enhance the learning function.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience designing, developing, and evaluating instructional content for corporate learning programs (Master’s Degree a plus).
  • Proficiency with e-Learning authoring, design, and engagement tools (Articulate 360 - Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, Canva, Kahoot!, Synthesia or similar).
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and knowledge of SCORM/xAPI standards.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven project management, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with video production, graphic design, or user experience design.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies or rapid prototyping.
  • Exposure to advanced learning technologies such as AI, AR/VR, and learning analytics.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, or related field.
  • This is a 6-month temporary assignment**

$38.61 to $46.20 an hour
