Job Description

Preschool Director Job Description:

The preschool director will oversee the daily operations and administration of the preschool. The director must have experience in childhood development and lead management within an early childhood setting. The preschool director’s responsibilities include hiring and retention of qualified staff, property upkeep, financial management, marketing and excellent communication with parents and leaders within the institution. 

The preschool director must be a Godly leader and love working with children. The director must have excellent interpersonal, professional and communication skills. The director will uphold the mission and vision of the preschool with pride and ensure that the preschool meets the relevant standards set by the school. 

Essential Function:

  • Daily operation.
  • Friendly, Christ-centered, child-focused environment.
  • Meets Missouri state licensing requirements.
  • Leads by example with a desire to achieve personal/classroom/school goals.
  • 12-month position (excluding predetermined holidays).


Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's in early childhood education.
  • Five years of experience working in a preschool or early childhood environment.
  • Experience as a director/assistant director is a plus.
  • First aid and CPR certification.


Necessary Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of license requirements.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe PDF, and Facebook.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Budgeting/financial skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of preschool developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Desire to foster a strong relationship between early childhood, K-8, and church.

  • Developing policies and procedures that meet state requirements.
  • Plan programs and extracurricular activities.
  • Create a positive working environment.
  • Organize staff meetings.

About Tower Grove Christian Academy:

What began as a small ministry of Tower Grove Church, now boasts an enrollment of nearly 300 students from infancy through 8th grade, serving families from St. Louis, Jefferson, Franklin, and St. Charles counties, as well as the City of St. Louis and western Illinois. Tower Grove Christian Academy provides a preschool program where children play, learn, experiment, and grow at their own rate. We also provides a challenging and comprehensive elementary and middle school program. TGCA develops competence in Bible, English, fine and practical arts, mathematics, physical education, technology, health, science and social studies, and prepares students for success at the high school level. We want to serve our community through intentional teaching and discipling the children and students who walk through our doors.
