SUMMARY OF POSITION

Reporting to the General Manager and working with the Lead Bartender and Bartenders, the Barback is an observant, efficient professional who can work with other staff members to ensure that our guests receive prompt and seamless service. The barback will support the Bartender and will assist in cleaning the bar, preparing garnishes, and ensuring the bar is well stocked with napkins, straws, glassware, garnishes, and all other necessities. A successful Barback is knowledgeable about menu items, attentive, and focused on providing the best possible service in a fast-paced environment.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Assist Bartender with prep and replenishment tasks as needed
• Assist with opening and closing duties, such as restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins, and ensuring that Bartenders have clean towels, glassware, etc.
• Engage with guests, anticipate guest needs and pour water
• Ensure bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer.
• Check taps and appliances to confirm that they are working properly
• Maintain a clean working area by removing trash, cleaning the bar, washing glasses, utensils, and equipment
• Be knowledgeable about the menu items and memorize cocktail recipes
• Take orders, prepare drinks, bus tables, open tabs, and process payments, especially during peak hours
• Maintain records and report levels of usage to assist in the reordering process and ensure that delivered items are stored properly.
• Comply with all food and beverage regulations.
• Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience.
• Arrive on time prepared to work and work complete shifts as scheduled by Management Team
• Provide great service and hospitality by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 1+ years of Barback experience in an elevated beverage setting or high-volume bar
• Commitment to service quality, excellence, and sincere hospitality.
• Minimum age to serve alcohol.
• Courteous, friendly personality and professional appearance.
• Knowledge of menu items, including beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors preferred
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to handle tense situations with team and guests calmly and rationally.
• Be Observant, thorough and anticipate guest needs.
• Responsible and punctual.
• Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• The ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, reach with hands and arms.
• Flexibility with a schedule that includes evenings, holidays and extended hours.
